A Chance for Spectators to Attend Persib vs Persija Match

The upcoming highly anticipated match between Persib Bandung and Persija Jakarta in the 28th week of Liga 1 2023/2024 is scheduled to take place at the Bandung Lautan Api Stadium (GBLA). However, there is a possibility that the match, scheduled for Saturday, March 8, 2024, may have to be conducted without spectators.

This development stems from a sanction imposed on Persib Bandung by the PSSI Disciplinary Commission (Komdis), as outlined in a letter dated Friday, March 1, 2024, under reference number 191/L1/SK/KD-PSSl/III/2024. The letter stipulates that Persib is prohibited from having spectators in the stands for one match, specifically in the 28th week of Liga 1 2023/2024.

Despite the initial ruling, Persib still has the opportunity to submit an appeal and potentially have supporters present at the match against Persija. According to Sabina Badminton, the Public Relations (PR) of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB), the decision is not yet final, and the host team has the chance to lodge an appeal.

Sabina explained, “Yes, that (Persib’s match without spectators) is true. However, for now it can still (change the situation) because the host can still file an appeal.” This indicates that the situation is subject to change, and there is potential for the decision to be reversed.

However, there has been no confirmation regarding whether Persib will indeed pursue an appeal. Sabina mentioned, “Regarding the appeal, we have not received further information.”

The possibility of allowing supporters, known as Bobotoh and Viking, to attend the Persib vs Persija match remains open. Nonetheless, the final decision regarding the permit will be determined by the PSSI Appeal Committee (Komding).

The sanction of playing the match without spectators was imposed on Persib Bandung in response to the unrest that occurred during the Persib vs PSIS Semarang match on February 27, 2024. The resulting chaos outside the stadium led to this disciplinary action.

The decision on whether Persib will pursue an appeal to have spectators at their match against Persija remains pending. The outcome of this decision will significantly impact the ambiance and dynamics of this highly anticipated fixture in Liga 1 2023/2024.
