Nepalese national team midfielder Rohit Chand has recently extended his contract with the Indonesian club Persija Jakarta for the second time. The 26-year-old athlete, who previously competed for the same club from 2013 to 2015, has signed a new agreement that will remain in effect until January 2018. The financial terms of the agreement, including his salary, have not been publicly disclosed.
Last year, Rohit sustained a knee injury while playing for the Malaysian T-Team Football Club, which led to an eight-month absence from the field. However, he made a successful return during the 15th Aaha-Rara Gold Cup held in Pokhara from January 17 to 28. His performance during the tournament captured the attention of Persija Jakarta.
Upon visiting the Indonesian capital, Rohit underwent a trial with Persija and subsequently participated in the full 90 minutes of a friendly match against the Indonesia U-22 team, resulting in a goalless draw. Following the trial, the club’s Brazilian head coach, Stefano Cugurra, chose to enlist Rohit as their third foreign player for the upcoming season.
Rohit, who has earned 46 caps for the national team, made his debut at the age of 17 during the AFC Challenge Cup Qualifiers in 2010. Prior to joining Persija Jakarta, he achieved success with Manang Marsyangdi Club by winning the Aaha-Rara Gold Cup and Jhapa Gold Cup this season.
In conclusion, Rohit Chand’s reappointment to Persija Jakarta signifies a significant milestone in his professional journey. His experience and expertise are certain to fortify the team as they prepare for the upcoming season. Given his remarkable track record at both the national and club levels, there is eager anticipation for his future contributions to Persija Jakarta.
