The Unfairness of Muhammad Ferrari’s Situation in the Indonesian U-20 National Team

The head coach of the U-20 Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong, has expressed his concerns regarding the incomplete squad in preparation for the U-20 Asian Cup and the 2023 U-20 World Cup.

Three players, Marselino Ferdinand, Muhammad Ferrari, and Ronaldo Kwateh, have been absent from training with the Garuda Nusantara squad. While Ronaldo Kwateh is reported to be in Indonesia after finalizing matters with his new club in Turkey and is expected to join the training camp soon, the statuses of the other two players remain uncertain.

Coach Shin conveyed his disappointment concerning Ferrari’s absence, stating that it is unfair, as all other clubs have released their players for national team duty. He singled out Persija Jakarta for not agreeing to release Ferrari and emphasized that this situation is due to the lack of national team regulations, making it nonsensical.

Shin urged for Ferrari’s immediate release to avoid causing protests from other clubs and emphasized the need to prevent similar issues from occurring again in the future. He also discussed the matter with the players after their match against Fiji, emphasizing the importance of avoiding such situations in the future.

The situation highlights the need for clear regulations and proper coordination between clubs and national teams to ensure the smooth participation of players in international duty. It also underscores the importance of fairness and equal treatment for all players, regardless of their club affiliations.

Shin’s statements shed light on the complexities and challenges faced in managing national team selections and the need for cooperation and understanding from all parties involved. It is imperative that measures be taken to address such issues and ensure that players are able to fully represent their national teams without facing unnecessary obstacles.

As the U-20 Asian Cup and the 2023 U-20 World Cup draw closer, it is crucial for all stakeholders to work together to facilitate the participation of players in national team activities. By doing so, they can uphold the spirit of fairness and sportsmanship while allowing young talents like Muhammad Ferrari to showcase their skills on the international stage.
