Persija Jakarta takes great pride in announcing that ten of its players have been selected to join the U-19 national team. However, the club has opted to release the players in a gradual manner, as opposed to all at once.
Head coach Shin Tae-yong has handpicked a total of 36 U-19 players for the forthcoming training camp in Jakarta, in anticipation of the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers. Among the chosen players, ten hail from Persija, comprising individuals from the academy level as well as the first team.
Ganesha Putera, Vice President of Persija, has conveyed that the academy players will be permitted to promptly partake in the national team training camp. However, for the first-team players, the club will seek exemptions from the PSSI, considering their potential need to continue with the club for an extended period.
Ganesha expounded that the decision to delay the release of first-team players is rooted in the desire to ensure the fulfillment of their club obligations and the thorough preparation with the national team. He appended that Persija is committed to honing the skills of young players and furnishing them with the requisite competitive exposure to thrive at the national level.
The ten Persija Jakarta players summoned to the U-19 national team encompass Agi Firmansyah, Achmad Maulana Syarif, Dia Syayid Alhawari, Rayhan Utina, and Teuku Razza Fachrezi from the academy, in addition to Alfriyanto Nico Saputro, Cahya Supriadi, Frengky Deaner Missa, Ginanjar Wahyu, and Muhammad Ferarri from the main team.
Coach Thomas Doll extolled the players’ selections, underscoring that it attests to the talent and coaching prowess at Persija Jakarta. He underscored the club’s dedication to nurturing emerging talent and fostering the players’ positive evolution.
The phased release of the players to the U-19 national team epitomizes Persija’s steadfast commitment to both player development and backing of the national team. The club’s decision to ensure that the players are fully primed and equipped with competitive experience is laudable and emblematic of its long-range vision. Best wishes to all the players as they represent both Persija Jakarta and the U-19 national team!
