The administration of Persija Jakarta has officially confirmed that ten members of their team have received invitations to join the U-19 national team. However, the club has made the decision to stagger the departure of these players, allowing them to gradually integrate into the national team’s training camp.
The head coach of the U-19 national team, Shin Tae-yong, recently unveiled a roster of 36 players who have been chosen for the training camp, scheduled to take place from August 25 to September 7 in Jakarta. This training camp serves as preparation for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers, set to occur from September 14-18 in Surabaya.
Of the 36 players selected by the national team coach, ten hail from Persija Jakarta, including both academy-level players and those from the first team.
Ganesha Putera, Vice President of Persija, indicated that some of the academy players will be able to join the national team’s training camp directly. However, for the first team players, the club will seek waivers from the All-Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) due to their potential need to remain with the club for an extended period.
Ganesha clarified that the delay in releasing the first team players to join the U-19 national team is intended to facilitate their transition and finalize preparations with the national team. He also underscored the club’s commitment to nurturing young players and ensuring their readiness to contribute to the national team.
The ten Persija Jakarta players summoned to the U-19 national team are Agi Firmansyah, Achmad Maulana Syarif, Dia Syayid Alhawari, Rayhan Utina, and Teuku Razza Fachrezi from the academy, as well as Alfriyanto Nico Saputro, Cahya Supriadi, Frengky Deaner Missa, Ginanjar Wahyu, and Muhammad Ferarri from the first team.
Coach Thomas Doll expressed his pride in the selection of ten of his players for the national team, recognizing the talent within the club and the efficacy of their coaching efforts. He expressed his satisfaction in witnessing the development of young players and their opportunity to represent the national team.
As Persija Jakarta continues to nurture and cultivate its young players, the club remains unwavering in providing a competitive environment for their development. The phased release of players to the U-19 national team demonstrates the club’s dedication to ensuring that their athletes are fully prepared to contribute to the national team’s success.
