Persija Jakarta Names Bambang Pamungkas as New Team Manager

The renowned Persija Jakarta Club is pleased to announce the designation of Bambang Pamungkas, affectionately known as Bepe, as the new team manager. This momentous announcement was made during a press conference at the Elite Club Epicentrum in Jakarta on January 17, 2020.

At the press conference, Persija President Muhammad Prapanca officially introduced Bambang Pamungkas as the team manager, alongside the introduction of the new head coach, Sergio Farias. The club is eagerly preparing for the 2020 season with high aspirations for success in League 1.

Despite acknowledging his lack of experience in managerial roles, Bepe expressed confidence in his ability to make a significant contribution to the team. Leveraging his wealth of knowledge and experience, he is eager to assume the responsibilities associated with managing the Persija Jakarta team.

While transitioning from the role of a player to a manager may present its challenges, Bepe assured that he would focus on the technical aspects off the pitch and would respect the decisions made by coach Sergio Farias. This demonstrates his commitment to supporting the team in a different capacity without interfering with the coaching staff.

The decision to appoint Bepe as the team manager came after speculation surfaced following his retirement from professional football last season. These rumors were further substantiated when Bepe was observed in formal attire at the PSAU mosque located near the Persija training facility at Sutasoma Field, Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base Complex, Jakarta.

Coincidentally, the prior manager of Persija, First Marshal Ardhi Tjahjoko, also announced his resignation from the position on the same day. This strategic move indicates the club’s determination to usher in a new era under the leadership of Bambang Pamungkas.

In a statement, Bepe shared his initial hesitation in accepting the managerial role, citing the strong bond he shares with Persija Jakarta as a compelling factor in his decision. He expressed his desire to take on the managerial position as the team sets its sights on ambitious targets for the upcoming season.

Furthermore, the club also introduced Coach Sergio Farias, whose impressive career in Asia and notable achievement of winning the Asian Champions League reflects his qualifications to lead the team. His eagerness to embrace new challenges and work towards a successful season aligns with the club’s vision for the future.

The appointment of Bepe as the team manager marks a significant milestone in the history of Persija Jakarta. As the club prepares to embark on a new chapter, the collective expertise and passion of both Bambang Pamungkas and Sergio Farias will undoubtedly propel the team to greater heights.
