Bhayangkara FC has confirmed that Witan Sulaeman will not participate in their upcoming match against Persija Jakarta, scheduled for the 20th week of Liga 1 2023/2024 on Monday, November 27, 2023, at 19:00 WIB.
Witan, who is on loan from Persija, faces a challenging debut with Bhayangkara as this match marks a confrontation against his former team. In accordance with the loan agreement and additional considerations, Bhayangkara has opted to sideline Witan for this match.
Sumardji, the Chief Operating Officer of Bhayangkara, stated, “According to the agreement with Persija, Witan Sulaeman will not be playing. This decision aligns with Persija’s wishes, and we will adhere to it.”
The decision to loan Witan has sparked discussions, particularly since he had been performing exceptionally well with Persija prior to the transfer. During his last two appearances, Witan netted three goals and provided one assist, significantly contributing to Persija’s victories over PSM Makassar (3-2) and Persikabo 1973 (4-0).
Despite the questions raised about the loan arrangement, Persija permitted Witan to strengthen Bhayangkara during the mid-season transfer period. Bhayangkara has undertaken extensive recruitment efforts to enhance their squad, acquiring eight new players, including Arif Satria, I Putu Gede Juni Antara, Zulfahmi Arifin, Marcelo Herrera, and Junior Brandao, under the guidance of their new coach, Mario Gomez.
These changes come as Bhayangkara seeks to elevate their standing, currently languishing at the bottom of the league table with only nine points amassed thus far. The ongoing efforts to build a competitive team aim to avert the looming threat of relegation, emphasizing their commitment to improvement.
