Persija Jakarta made a significant move on Wednesday, July 19th by officially signing Oliver Saludares Bias, a 22-year-old player from the Filipino national team. Bias, who is currently on loan from FK Pribram club for a one-year period, is expected to have a substantial impact on the Indonesian football scene.
The arrival of Bias was met with enthusiasm by the team’s head coach, Thomas Doll, who expressed his confidence in the player’s abilities. Coach Thomas, originally from Germany, praised Bias for his speed and one-on-one dueling skills. His prior experience with the RB Leipzig youth team also added to the coach’s belief that Bias possesses the qualities needed to elevate the Kemayoran Tigers’ performance on the field.
With previous stints at various clubs such as Optik Rathenow, FC Nitra, and Chiangmai United, Bias brings a wealth of experience and a track record of 83 appearances, seven goals, and 11 assists at both junior and senior levels. His international experience is equally impressive, having represented both the German and Filipino national teams in multiple age groups, including the U-15, U-16, U-17, and U-23 levels.
Presently, Persija Jakarta’s roster includes a total of four foreign players, namely Marko Simic, Ondrej Kudela, Ryo Matsumura, and Maciej Gajos, in addition to Bias. The team also has the option to recruit one more foreign player, in accordance with the regulations set by PT LIB, the league operator.
