Persija Jakarta has recently issued an update regarding the status of their newly acquired foreign striker, Gustavo Almeida. The player, who sustained an injury during his debut match against Bhayangkara FC on November 27, 2023, will regrettably not be able to rejoin the team until February 2024.
During a press conference at Patriot Chandrabhaga Stadium in Bekasi on Friday, December 15, 2023, Coach Thomas Doll expressed his enthusiasm for Almeida’s arrival, while also conveying the disappointing news of his current injury.
Although Almeida’s recovery is underway, he will not be able to participate in the upcoming match against PSS Sleman on December 16, 2023. Instead, he is expected to begin preparations with the team in January, with a projected full return to play in February 2024.
The absence of Almeida will undoubtedly impact the team’s lineup, particularly in the forward position. Coach Doll acknowledged the challenge but is confident in the team’s ability to adjust their strategy and focus on strengthening other areas of play.
Despite the setback, the team remains optimistic about Almeida’s return and is committed to supporting his recovery process. The fans eagerly await his comeback and anticipate a successful season once he is back on the field.
The entire organization is prioritizing the well-being of the player and is looking forward to his complete recovery. As always, the team is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship and ensuring that every player receives the necessary support and care.
In the meantime, the entire Persija Jakarta community is sending their best wishes to Gustavo Almeida for a speedy recovery and eagerly anticipating his return to the field in February 2024.
