Borneo FC has been selected as Indonesia’s representative in the upcoming ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) 2024/2025, following Persija Jakarta’s decision to decline the opportunity in order to focus on preparations for the forthcoming Liga 1 season. As a result, Pesut Etam, along with PSM Makassar, will be competing in the ACC from July 2024 to May 2025.
Originally, PSM Makassar and Persija Jakarta were set to represent Indonesia in the ACC 2024/2025 as the champions and runners-up of Liga 1 2022/2023. However, with Persija Jakarta’s withdrawal, Borneo FC was chosen as the replacement to compete in the championship after being crowned as the Regular Series Champion of Liga 1 2023/2024.
The draw for the 2024/2025 ACC was held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. PSM Makassar found themselves in Group A alongside BG Pathum United (Thailand), Terengganu FC (Malaysia), and Doang A Thanh Hoa FC (Vietnam). Meanwhile, Borneo FC was placed in Group B with Buriram United (Thailand), Kuala Lumpur City FC (Malaysia), Cong An Hanoi FC (Vietnam), Kaya FC Iloilo (Philippines), and Lion City Sailors FC (Singapore).
