The management of Persija Jakarta has officially announced its support for the ten players who have been called up to join the U-19 national team. However, the club has made the decision to gradually release the players, rather than all at once.
The U-19 national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, recently unveiled a list of 36 U-19 players who will partake in a training camp from August 25 to September 7 in Jakarta. This training camp is geared towards preparing for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers, slated to occur from September 14-18 in Surabaya.
Out of the 36 players handpicked by the South Korean coach, ten hail from Persija Jakarta, encompassing players from both the academy level and the first team.
Ganesha Putera, Vice President of Persija, indicated that certain academy players will be able to join the national team’s training camp directly. However, for the first team players, the club will seek waivers from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), as it may be necessary for them to remain with the club for a longer duration.
According to Ganesha, the delay in the participation of the first team players with the U-19 national team is crucial as the club still has pending arrangements for the players. This is also to ensure that the players are fully prepared to join the national team.
“We will continue to develop these players at the club while the training camp is ongoing. We have dedicated coaches who are committed to nurturing young talents,” stated Ganesha in an official club statement. “Our goal is to have these players compete at a high level, so that they will be more than ready to contribute to the national team. We hope that they can help the national team achieve outstanding results.”
The ten Persija Jakarta players who have been summoned to join the U-19 national team are Agi Firmansyah, Achmad Maulana Syarif, Dia Syayid Alhawari, Rayhan Utina, and Teuku Razza Fachrezi from the academy, and Alfriyanto Nico Saputro, Cahya Supriadi, Frengky Deaner Missa, Ginanjar Wahyu, and Muhammad Ferarri from the first team.
Meanwhile, Macan Kemayoran coach, Thomas Doll, expressed his pride in having ten of his players selected for the national team. He believes that this exemplifies the talent present within the Persija Jakarta players and reflects the effectiveness of the club’s coaching.
“We are delighted to have so many representatives joining the national team. It is a testament to the abundance of talent within our club. We are very proud of their development,” said Thomas.
The club’s decision to gradually release the players to join the U-19 national team demonstrates their commitment to nurturing young talents while ensuring the best preparation for their transition. As the players continue to develop and gain experience, they are expected to become valuable assets to both Persija Jakarta and the national team.
