On 19 July, Persija Jakarta made a significant move by signing Oliver Saludares Bias, a 22-year-old Filipino national team player, on loan from the FK Pribram club for a period of one year. This news has been warmly welcomed by coach Thomas Doll, who expressed his confidence in Bias’s ability to elevate the quality of the team.
Before joining Persija Jakarta, Bias played for the RB Leipzig youth team, where he showcased his speed and one-on-one duel skills. Coach Thomas had the opportunity to gather positive feedback about Bias from his time at RB Leipzig, which further reinforced his belief in the player’s potential to contribute to the team.
Bias has an impressive record of 83 appearances, seven goals, and 11 assists at both junior and senior levels. Additionally, he has represented the German national team in various age groups, including U-15, U-16, and U-17, before transitioning to the Philippines U-23 national team, for which he has played 11 times and recorded two assists.
With the addition of Bias, Persija Jakarta now boasts a total of four foreign players, namely Marko Simic, Ondrej Kudela, Ryo Matsumura, and Maciej Gajos, along with one foreign player from Southeast Asia. As per the regulations set by the league operator, PT LIB, Persija still has the option to recruit one more foreign player.
