Brisbane Roar’s senior leaders, Chief Executive Officer Kaz Patafta and Chief Operating Officer Zac Anderson, recently embarked on a trip to Singapore and Jakarta to foster their burgeoning relationship with the Bakrie Group, the club’s owners, and their affiliated club, Persija Jakarta.
The objective of their visit was to meet with Nirwan Bakrie and Helmi Rahman in Singapore to provide an update on the management of Brisbane Roar. Subsequently, the management team traveled to Jakarta to engage with the President of Persija Jakarta and their management team. The discussions centered around various strategies for collaboration in football, commercial ventures, marketing, and fan engagement.
Anderson emphasized the significance of strategically aligning the two clubs, stating, “An important strategic pillar for Kaz and myself is to have alignment between both clubs. This strategic partnership is a huge competitive advantage for us as a football club, a focus that hasn’t been explored in the past. We want to have a close relationship with our Indonesian sister club.”
He further highlighted the importance of cultivating a strong rapport with Persija Jakarta, noting their substantial social media following of close to 5 million and their extensive reach across Asia. Anderson and Patafta personally experienced the fervent support of Persija’s fan base during a recent game, where they witnessed 25,000 home supporters in attendance.
The potential for a mutually beneficial commercial relationship between Roar and Persija was also a point of discussion. Anderson proposed opportunities to facilitate player networking, providing exposure to the international market for both Australian and Indonesian players.
While there are ongoing internal discussions on the future of this partnership, Anderson emphasized the significance of establishing open lines of communication and showing genuine intentions to collaborate. He underlined the clear direction and desire to progress together as two clubs with a shared vision.
The strategic partnership between Brisbane Roar and Persija Jakarta signifies an exciting new chapter for both clubs, offering immense potential for growth and development on various fronts. As they continue to nurture this alliance, the collaboration holds promising prospects for the future of football in both Australia and Indonesia.
