Persib Bandung Secures Spot in Championship Series, Thanks to Persija’s Victory

The pathway to the Championship Series for Persib Bandung has been officially solidified, with Persija Jakarta playing a pivotal role in this achievement. Persija’s triumph over Persis Solo has effectively paved the way for Persib Bandung’s progression.

The 1-0 victory by Persija Jakarta in their match against Persis Solo has cemented their position with 41 points, guaranteeing their safety from the looming threat of relegation. This win has also dashed the hopes of 16th ranked Arema FC, as they currently trail with 31 points.

Now sitting comfortably in second place with 56 points, Persib Bandung has secured their berth in the Championship Series. Even the eighth-placed Persis Solo, with 44 points, is unable to bridge the gap.

Prior to Persija’s triumph, Persis Solo had the opportunity to surpass Persib Bandung by accruing a maximum of 56 points and winning the head-to-head encounter. However, other contenders such as PSIS Semarang and Dewa United have also failed to dislodge Persib Bandung, losing in head-to-head matchups against the team led by Bojan Hodak.

Even though PSIS and Dewa United have the potential to accumulate 56 points, the remaining three matches in the Liga 1 2023/2024 Regular Series clearly indicate that Persib only requires one draw to secure second place and a ticket to the Championship Series.

The remaining two Championship Series tickets are still up for grabs by seven teams, including Bali United and Madura United, who currently occupy the third and fourth positions with 52 and 50 points respectively. This presents an avenue for competition from PSIS, Dewa United, Persik Kediri, Persis, and Barito Putera in the upcoming matches.

As the season intensifies, six teams are fervently endeavoring to evade the looming threat of the relegation zone. While Persikabo 1973 is the sole team confirmed for relegation, Arema FC and Bhayangkara FC still harbor hopes of escaping the red zone.

The anxiety also extends to the four teams above the relegation zone – Persebaya Surabaya, PSS Sleman, RANS Nusantara, and Persita Tangerang. With three matches remaining, they have yet to secure their positions and remain at risk of plummeting into the relegation zone.

Arema FC, currently in 13th place with 39 points, has the potential to surpass Persebaya Surabaya, positioning them as the top team in danger of relegation, with Singo Edan holding the best chance of accumulating 40 points.

With the season drawing to a close, the competition remains fierce as teams vie for their placements in the Championship Series or strive to elude the threat of relegation.
