Persija Jakarta Sends 10 Players to U-19 National Team Gradually: Here’s Why

Persija Jakarta has made the decision to gradually release ten of its players to join the U-19 national team. This determination follows the call-up of 36 U-19 players by the Indonesian national team coach, Shin Tae-yong, for a training camp in readiness for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers.

The ten players selected from Persija Jakarta consist of individuals from both the academy level and the first team. Though some academy players will promptly join the national team training camp, the club has sought exemptions from the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) for first-team players, as they may be needed to remain with the club for an extended duration.

Ganesha Putera, Vice President of Persija, conveyed that the postponement in permitting first-team players to join the national team is necessary to ensure the fulfillment of their club obligations and to receive adequate preparation for their national team duties. He underscored the club’s commitment to fostering young talents and affording them opportunities to compete at a high level.

The players elected to join the U-19 national team from Persija Jakarta’s academy are Agi Firmansyah, Achmad Maulana Syarif, Dia Syayid Alhawari, Rayhan Utina, and Teuku Razza Fachrezi. Additionally, five players from the main team, Alfriyanto Nico Saputro, Cahya Supriadi, Frengky Deaner Missa, Ginanjar Wahyu, and Muhammad Ferarri, have also been selected.

Thomas Doll, the coach of Persija Jakarta, expressed pride in the ten players chosen to join the U-19 national team. He views this as a testament to the talent and progress of the club’s players, as well as the effectiveness of the coaching they have received.

Doll articulated, “I think it’s good we sent a lot of representatives to the national team. That means we have a lot of talent at the club. We are very happy and we can see the development of young players.”

It is evident that both the management and coaching staff of Persija Jakarta are gratified with the opportunity for their players to represent the U-19 national team. They are dedicated to nurturing and developing these young talents and hope that the players will excel and contribute to the national team’s success in the upcoming qualifiers.

As the players prepare for their national team duties, Persija Jakarta remains steadfast in supporting their growth and wishes them the best in their endeavors.
