Persija Jakarta Faces Venue Change as Management Proposes Gelora Bung Karno for Upcoming Matches

In a recent development concerning Persija Jakarta’s participation in the BRI Liga 1 2024/25, the team has been forced to consider alternative venues due to temporary exclusion from their home ground, the Jakarta International Stadium (JIS). The management has officially proposed the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK) as a substitute venue for their upcoming matches against Dewa United on September 16, 2024, and PSM Makassar on September 29, 2024.

Mohamad Prapanca, the manager of Persija Jakarta, stated, “We are currently in communication with GBK, and we hope to secure this venue. This is all I can disclose at this moment.” The necessity for this venue change arises from scheduling conflicts with a series of concerts by American artist Bruno Mars, which are set to take place on September 11, 13, and 14, 2024.

Consequently, the JIS will require time for the restoration of its pitch, as Prapanca elaborated, “While our preference lies with either GBK or JIS, we must acknowledge the realities of the situation. The turf at JIS will undoubtedly suffer from the concert activities, necessitating a recovery time of over twelve days, which is unfeasible under current circumstances.”

As Persija Jakarta seeks to finalize arrangements for their home games, the prioritization of playing at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium remains crucial, with no other alternatives being considered at this time.
