New Era for Persija Jakarta: Entering the Esports World with VALORANT Team

Persija Jakarta, one of Indonesia’s most successful football clubs, is on the verge of a momentous decision to add BOY WITH LOVE to its VALORANT roster. The information first surfaced in the VCT APAC Group Stage’s team list, which listed the Persija logo in Group B, alongside Paper Rex and Bonkers. This bold initiative has generated significant excitement within the Indonesian esports community and is expected to elevate Persija Jakarta’s standing in the realm of sports and entertainment.

If the arrangement comes to fruition, BOY WITH LOVE will become affiliated with one of Indonesia’s oldest and most esteemed football organizations. Founded in 1928, Persija Jakarta boasts a substantial following known as “The Jakmania” and is recognized as one of the largest football clubs in Asia.

Today, Persija Jakarta officially announced their entry into esports via a tweet in Bahasa Indonesia, declaring, “Get ready for Persija Esports. The latest breakthrough from Persija who is ready to compete and become the best in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022. Stay tuned [tunggu tanggal mainnya], Jak.”

The inclusion of BOY WITH LOVE into the Persija family exemplifies the football club’s dedication to broadening its presence in the sports and entertainment sphere. The football team is a participant in Indonesia’s top-tier professional football league, Liga 1, and has amassed an impressive record of 11 league championships and no relegations since the 2008/09 season.

This foray into esports is not entirely unprecedented for Persija Jakarta; the club ventured into competitive gaming in August 2020 by recruiting PES player Rizal “Ivander” Danyarta to compete in the Indonesia Football E-League (IFeL). The addition of Nanda “asteriskk” Rizana and his teammates to the esports division is certain to represent a significant milestone for the club.

BOY WITH LOVE’s successful journey to the VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers and their subsequent triumph over ONIC G has positioned them as a formidable entity in the esports scene. With Persija Jakarta purportedly finalizing this acquisition, the organization is poised to house one of Indonesia’s premier VALORANT teams, indicative of their serious intentions in the competitive gaming domain.

In line with the trend demonstrated by other Indonesian football clubs such as Dewa United F.C. and RANS Cilegon F.C., Persija Jakarta is primed to make a resounding impact in the esports arena.

The complete VALORANT lineup of Persija Jakarta, also identified as the “Kemayoran Tigers,” is scheduled to debut during the group stage of VCT APAC Stage 1 Challengers, commencing on March 16th. The team is anticipated to include Nanda “asteriskk” Rizana, Kevin “Eeyore” Gunawan, Fikri “famouz” Zaki, Vicky “Flynch” Rudyanto, and Baskoro “roseaufy” Dwi Putra.

This development signifies an exhilarating new chapter for Persija Jakarta and underlines their commitment to not only football excellence but also to making a lasting impression in the esports domain. It serves as evidence of the growing importance of esports in the global sports landscape and consolidates Indonesia’s position as a key player in the industry.
