The Viking Persib Club (VPC) hosted a special gathering at Pusdai Mosque in Bandung last night. The purpose of the event was to unite in a peaceful and positive manner and pray together in remembrance of Haringga Sirla, who tragically lost his life last week in an incident involving a number of Persib supporters.
The Bobotoh, or loyal Persib supporters, along with several Persib players and the club’s Manager, H. Umuh Muchtar, participated in the gathering. Herru Djoko, VPC Chairman, expressed the collective sentiment of the gathering, emphasizing the intention to bring about positive change and become a hope for many people.
In a related development, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) urged Erick Thohir, Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI), to work with the public to eliminate any instances of corruption and criminal activity within the football community. This highlights the government’s commitment to ensuring the integrity of the sport.
The PSSI confirmed Shin Tae-Yong as the coach of the Indonesian national football team until December 2023, providing reassurance regarding the stability and direction of the national team. However, the organization’s headquarters were recently raided by an anti-soccer mafia task force as part of ongoing efforts to address issues of corruption and criminal activity within the football administration.
Amidst this, Wesley Sneijder expressed his gratitude to Indonesian fans, and the President Cup final is set to take place with Mahaka Sports and Entertainment revealing cash prizes for the participating teams. Additionally, the football community will welcome Evan Dimas back to Indonesia after his training session in Spain and the commencement of the President Cup in Bali.
To promote fair competition and greater participation, the Sport Ministry tripled the prize money for the Kemerdekaan Cup, aiming to eliminate any monopolistic practices within football tournaments.
These developments demonstrate the commitment of all stakeholders in the football community to address internal issues while maintaining a focus on the positive aspects of the sport, ensuring a healthy and nurturing environment for football in Indonesia.
