Johor Darul Ta’zim Emerges Victorious Over Persija Jakarta in Convincing AFC Cup Win

In the recent AFC Cup match held at Larkin Stadium, Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Persija Jakarta, claiming the top spot in Group H. JDT coach Ulisses Morais strategically included goalkeeper Farizal Marlias, who made his debut following the completion of his suspension by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). Furthermore, there were tactical adjustments made by the Portuguese coach, with Singaporean Hariss Harun joining Fadhli Shas in defense while Marcos Antonio, the Brazilian central defender, was given a rest due to an ongoing injury.

From the onset, the home team assumed control of the game, launching a fierce offensive. In the third minute, captain Syafiq Rahim’s free-kick from the left side created havoc in Persija Jakarta’s defense, coming close to scoring. Fadhli’s header hit the post, narrowly missing the goal as goalkeeper Andritany Ardhiyasa was unable to make the save.

JDT broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when Argentine forward Jorge Pereyra Diaz set up Ahmad Hazwan Bakri for an unmarked shot, securing the first goal. Diaz then capitalized on his momentum, bypassing Persija’s defense to score JDT’s second goal in the 41st minute.

During the second half, Diaz continued to pose a threat to Persija’s defense, nearly securing a second goal in the 54th minute. Despite Persija’s efforts to stage a comeback, a disallowed goal by Brazilian forward Addison Alves and JDT’s continuous pressure ultimately led to a striking goal by substitute Safawi Rasid in the 75th minute, sealing the 3-0 victory for JDT.

The impressive performance by JDT has elevated their standing in Group H and serves as a testament to their strong form in the AFC Cup. As the competition progresses, JDT’s recent triumph has reinforced their position as a formidable contender in the tournament.

In conclusion, JDT’s dominant display against Persija Jakarta showcased their prowess and determination to emerge victorious in the AFC Cup. Their notable victory at Larkin Stadium has undoubtedly bolstered their position in Group H, solidifying their aspirations for continued success in the tournament.
