Persija Jakarta’s football team suffered a disappointing 2-3 defeat against Arema FC at Stadium I Wayan Dipta, marking their third consecutive loss in the 26th week of the 2023/2024 Liga 1 season. Prior to their defeat against Arema, the Kemayoran Tigers were also defeated by Borneo FC (1-3) and Madura United (0-1).
During a press conference following the match, Thomas Doll, the coach of Persija, expressed regret and offered his apologies to The Jakmania and other supporters who witnessed the game. While not delving into details, Doll acknowledged the team’s underperformance and took accountability for the outcome.
In recognizing the team’s shortcomings, Doll alluded to individual player errors as a contributing factor to their recent defeats. He underscored the critical need for maintaining focus at the individual level, particularly when playing in unfamiliar venues.
Despite the unfavorable results, the German coach is determined to tackle the team’s challenges in away games. Persija must demonstrate that playing outside Jakarta is not a significant obstacle. Their upcoming match in the 27th week of Liga 1 2023/2024 against Dewa United on March 2, 2024, will offer an opportunity for redemption as they return to Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium, their temporary home ground.
As they prepare for their next fixture, Persija Jakarta will diligently work to regain their form and strive for improved performance. The team is dedicated to making the necessary adjustments and delivering a strong showing in their upcoming matches.
