Persija Jakarta Football Club has recently embarked on a series of new initiatives aimed at fostering and nurturing young talent within the organization. Nevertheless, the club has encountered significant challenges as a result of the limited sports facilities available in the DKI Jakarta area, thereby impeding the realization of goals established during the Union era, particularly with regard to the organization of internal competitions.
One of the innovative programs introduced by Persija Jakarta is the establishment of a boarding school designed to develop young players. This program provides children with the opportunity to receive formal education, while simultaneously engaging in football training, thus striking a balance between academic and athletic pursuits. The initiative aligns with Persija’s broader objective of grooming a new generation of skilled footballers who can ultimately contribute to the club’s premier team.
At the boarding house located in Bojongsari, Depok, West Java, young students enrolled in the program are observed engaging in various recreational activities subsequent to their training. Some partake in leisurely activities such as billiards, while others opt to relax by watching television or engaging in casual conversations with their peers.
The boarding school is equipped with a range of amenities, including dormitory rooms, bathrooms, and a training field. Additionally, students have access to a gym for physical conditioning and a dining area where meals are provided by Persija Development. These facilities and programs are specifically designed to offer a comprehensive and supportive environment for the young players to flourish in.
This football pesantren, also known as an Islamic boarding school, has not only served as an exceptional platform for the development of youth football, but has also produced talented players who have subsequently represented Persija’s premier team. Through their rigorous training and education, students such as Alfriyanto Nico Saputro have emerged as promising athletes, exhibiting potential to make significant contributions to the club’s future success.
In addition to its internal programs, Persija Jakarta has also established partnerships with local soccer schools (SSBs) in the Jabodetabek area. Through these collaborations, the club is able to reach a wider pool of talented young players and further expand its youth development initiatives. By nurturing and training aspiring footballers, Persija is dedicated to contributing to the growth and advancement of the sport within the community.
Notwithstanding the club’s commendable efforts in youth development, challenges such as limited access to sports facilities and complexities related to obtaining permits for organized competitions persist as significant obstacles. The organization faces difficulties in securing fields for competitions and navigating the intricate procedures required for official sports tournaments.
As Persija Jakarta looks to the future, it remains steadfast in its commitment to overcoming these challenges and reinstating the tradition of internal competitions, which has long been integral to the club’s growth and success. The club aspires to revitalize these internal competitions in order to further promote football within Jakarta and provide a platform for talented young athletes to shine.
As Persija Jakarta continues to invest in the development of its youth players, it is evident that the club is deeply committed to nurturing a new generation of talented footballers who can carry on the rich legacy and tradition of the organization. Through their dedication to youth development and their unwavering spirit, Persija Jakarta is positioned to have a lasting impact on the world of football.
